Fortunately for us it takes a very long time, many generations of people. Many people believe the ‘average’ human has more differences in the last 2 generations that it has had in the last 200. This is not because we have evolved but because of easier access to high calorie food and improvements in medical care.

Humans can evolve quiete slowly. they take many generations or centuries to do so. Unfortunately to create variants or changes in the DNA that can be acted upon by selection arise very slowly, so it may take a couple of thousands of years to evolve and that too very slightly.

Hundreds of thousands of years! We don’t know how long exactly it took for humans to evolve from monkeys, but our last common ancestor with the chimpanzee was 4-5 millions of years ago – this gives an indication of how long it takes!
