• Question: When you rub something out where does it go?

      Well firstly it gets spread out really thinly over a larger area, which makes it harder to see.

      Depending on what it is, because it has a larger area, it might be absorbed into the surface (like a mark on clothing), it might evaporate, or it might get dissolved in the oils and moisture on your fingers

      It goes onto the rubber – when you rub something out you’ll notice bits of eraser come off which is dark as it contains pencil (or graphite). This is because when you rub an eraser on paper, it generates heat from friction (you can mimic this by rubbing your hands together) which makes it sticky and causes the graphite from the pencil to stick to it, instead of the paper. The bits you wipe away from paper will be the pencil and rubber which has combined.
