Of course. Evolution is such basic idea, that we see all around us, and explains so many things.

It doesn’t just apply to living things. If you want to see evolution in action look at mobile phones. Each model is kind of like the ones around it, but with minor variations. Some of those variations make it more successful, so in the next generation of phones the new models are more likely to incorporate those features. Over several years phones get better because features which work well get more widely adopted, and features that don’t work die out.

Evolution in living things is pretty similar.

There are plenty examples where scientists have studied simple animals over periods of time and actually seen them evolve. The most widely known would be in the case of diseases that have evolved to be immune to antibiotics. If you have a drug that kills 99% of a certain kind of bacteria, but 1% are immune, then after you’ve killed the 99%, all the ones that are left will all be immune, and their offspring will probably be immune too.

While some people would like to suggest otherwise, its really not in the least bit controversial. No one is arguing if drug resistant strains of infections exist, yet they’re clear evidence of evolution.

      Hi avneetthandi39
Yes I do believe in evolution and incidentally my work is on understanding the evolutionary basis of type 2 diabetes. As Ian had pointed out that evolution is a basic idea and is the force behind the way in which we see all living organisms. There are very good websites that explain evolution in a basic way one of them is- http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/article/evo_01

      Without a doubt!

The most significant milestone in proving evolution was in the 1800s, when the fossils of Archaeopteryx – a dinosaur with feathers – was discovered showing birds evolved from dinosaurs.

And I see it in my job – like Ian mentioned, bacteria that survive antibiotics reproduce and those that don’t die off. I see this ‘survival of the fittest’ all the time in the lab.

Do you believe in evolution, avneetthandi39?
