• Question: I know we produce a ton of CO2 nowadays and some of it comes from the volcanoes erupting but a long time ago when it was the Stone Age or the ice age or when the dinosaurs were roaming the earth what were the main CO2 producers or were there any at all?

      Good question!

There may have been more carbon dioxide produced when dinosaurs ruled the planet and that was because there was a lot more volcanic activity. Volcanoes are made when land – or tectonic plates – rub against each other, causing magma (or lava) to spew out. When dinosaurs were around, land was a huge super continent which began splitting – this opened up the Earth’s crust, causing volcanic eruptions – and the release of carbon dioxide – that lasted thousands of years.
