1 Question: if fire needs oxygen to burn then how can the sun burn if it's in the space which has no oxygen Keywords: oxygen, space, sun Asked by to Naomi on 24 Jun 2014. This question was also asked by .
Naomi Osborne answered on 24 Jun 2014:
This is because the sun isn’t actually “fire” – it’s made of hydrogen and helium. The hydrogen atoms fuse together in a process called nuclear fusion which doesn’t require oxygen, forming helium which creates a lot of energy and heat.
