• Question: is it posibale for us to see ulta voilet and infer red?

      cells in our eyes (called cone cells) only detect light of a certain wavelength – this is called visible light. ultra-violet light and infra-red have wavelengths which cannot be detected by our eyes, so we can’t see it 🙂

      No unfortunately we cannot see either of these and we need night vision goggles. This is because our eyes are not tuned to see these. Some animals can see these though, so if we were a cat or a dog, we would see a whole different world. Would’nt that be cool!! It is really interesting that some of these animals are so sensitive to that they can see the power lines emitting UV light as glowing ropes!! Infra red light can be seen by some bats and snakes.
