      Hi elinmelin!

Microbes are made of the same things as us – DNA and proteins – only much simpler. Microbes are living single cells (compared to humans which are made up of over 37 trillion cells) and include bacteria and fungi. We have over a trillion bacteria in our gut – we need them to be healthy, but without us they’re probably just fine!
