Find something that interests you, and find out everything you can about it. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as you think its interesting. Even if every one else around you thinks its boring, or pointless, if you think its worth looking at, then eventually you’ll find out why its important.

Read a lot! There’s loads of great books out there explaining interesting science outside the school curriculum. You can also pick up fascinating facts by following a few science blogs. But beware – make sure the person that’s writing is a real scientist, not just someone pretending!

Get work experience where you can – if you’re interested in becoming a scientist, don’t be afraid to contact companies or universities to spend some time in a lab, they’ll welcome any help!

Also, study what you find most interesting – the most important factor in being a scientist is having a passion for science, so it’s crucial that you find it interesting!
