      Hi 13ajones!

      Agar can be many different colours – blue, red, green, white and even pink. We add dyes to change the colour so that it contrasts well with whatever colour we make the bacteria grow using enzyme substrates – this makes it easier to identify the bacteria. I’ll put a picture on my profile showing you all the different colours agar can be 🙂
