Plant and animal cells are similar in several ways – they both have a nucleus containing DNA, mitochondria to produce energy, ribosomes to make proteins, and a cell membrane.

Plant cells have extra components that animals cells don’t have – they have a vacuole which contains sap to keep the cell turgid, a cell wall and chloroplast cells which is where photosynthesis occurs. They also store energy differently – plant cells store energy as starch, animals cells store it as glycogen 🙂
