      The worst part for me is when you really think an experiment is going to go a certain way and it doesn’t – particularly when you can’t repeat a good result even though you haven’t done anything different!

      But this can be a really good thing – if all experiments go as you plan, then you wouldn’t find out half the amount of things that you do. And when you can’t repeat a result it means it’s not a reliable method, so you improve it 🙂

      Not being able to do it!

      like most jobs there’s a lot of other things that take your time away – meetings, admin, paperwork.

      When you actually get to spend a day just doing research its always a good day.
