      Aqualung is the name of the company that invented/developed scuba diving equipment – breathing equipment and air tanks you carry on your back, to swim under water.

      In the same way we say Hoover for vacuum cleaner, Fridge for refrigerator, and Biro for ball point pen (for even Google for web search), the name of the company sometimes gets used as a generic term for the thing they made.

      Like Ian has said, it’s the name of an under water breathing equipment. The term Aqua lung may be referred to in biology when talking of insects that can absorb oxygen to keep them breathing under water for long periods – like a scuba air tank 🙂
