Probably my exams in my final year of University. It was pretty tough revising for 6 exams in such a short space of time – I had two weeks to revise a year’s worth of material and was in the library from 7am-2am one day! It was worth putting in the hard work though – it definitely paid off 🙂
How the Earth moves is all down to how it formed 4.5 billion years ago. After the big bang, the solar system began as a cloud of gas and dust that condensed into a giant disc that rotated very fast, combining with more gas and dust to form Earth and the rest of our solar system. Scientists think something impacted Earth, knocking a chunk out which became our moon. Gravity is what keeps the moon close to Earth, but there is friction between the two, causing the moon to more further away (it used to be much closer) and for the spin of Earth to slow down – Earth now spins once every 24 hours, it used to be once every 6 hours billions of years ago!
We can’t feel Earth moving because we’re spinning at the same rate – the same as when you’re in a plane or car going fast, if it’s smooth you don’t feel it.
