      Hi bellanash123
Popcorn is actually made of a hard exterior called kernal. Each kernel of popcorn contains a small drop of water stored inside some starch. The soft starch is surrounded by the kernel’s hard outer surface. As the kernel heats up, the water begins to expand and makes it pop.

When the kernel heats up and the water expands, the pressure bursts the kernal’s hard surface so that the soft starch spills out – the pop we hear is then the pressure bursts the surface, sending ripples in the air that we hear as sound when it hits our inner ear bones
